What operational improvements should a global pet supply retailer think about in its post-startup growth phase?
In November 2019, Latin American pet supply retailer Tiendapet, was at a critical juncture in its business. With 12 years of operational experience under their belt, co-founders Rodolfo Borzutzky and Allan Turski had seen the young company through many phases – the dormitory direct sales route, online expansion, and sale through brick-and-mortar locations. Now, they are wondering what process improvements could help the business scale up and realize new growth opportunities. In this case, students will learn about the global pet supply industry, walk alongside Tiendapets’s cofounders as they developed and pivoted their business models during the company’s early years, and think critically about operations, logistics, and opportunities.
