What real-world factors and economic theories come into play when members of the Federal Open Market Committee recommend interest rate policies?
It's June 1992 and the Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) is meeting to address a recession that began two years earlier. In this case, students will be placed in the role of an FOMC group member in order to grasp how monetary policy is formed in a real-world setting. After reviewing relevant economic data and forecasts from the Federal Reserve, students are tasked to prepare a report that formulates an interest-rate policy recommendation.
